African American Genealogy Society Summary

The African American Genealogical (AAGSOM) of Milwaukee was found in 1992. It is a non-profit organization committed to the preservation of the history and culture of our African American ancestors.
The AAGSOM stresses the importance of African-American history and genealogy by encouraging research, recording and documenting personal family histories. We encourage the preservation of records within families and the community.
Our future events include an open house, March 18, 2017 (12-4 p.m.), focused on helping focused on helping attendees find their ancestors in the 1940 census. It will he held at the Village Library, 3310 W. Village Ave.,
Milwaukee. We are also pleased to announce our 25th Anniversary Luncheon to be held at the Italian Community Center, 631 E, Chicago St., Milwaukee, September 23, 2017,1-3:30 p.m.

The society meets monthly on the third Saturday from 1-4 p.m., at the Villard Library. Genealogy education is part of every meeting. The meeting are open to the public.
